US Consulate General Launches English Scholarship Program for Pakistani Students – Startup Pakistan

This program aims to provide English language classes to 200 students, helping them develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in today’s globalized world.

At the launch event, U.S. Consul General Scott Urbom highlighted the importance of the program, describing it as a pathway to new opportunities and a better future. “By improving their English skills, these students are opening doors to academic and career possibilities,” said Urbom.

He added that the program would not only teach students how to communicate in English but also offer insights into American culture and values.Consul General Urbom also expressed appreciation for the teachers, coordinators, and staff at Evolution, the organization responsible for running the program.

She also thanked the academic partners involved, which include Sindh Madressatul Islam University, University of Sufism and Modern Sciences Bhitshah, and Sindh Agriculture University, Umerkot, for their dedication to making the program successful.

This two-year scholarship program is sponsored by the Regional English Language Office (RELO) at the U.S. Mission in Pakistan. It offers afterschool and intensive English classes to students aged 13 to 20 who are academically talented but come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

Through the English Access Program, students will not only learn English but also gain a deeper understanding of American culture and democratic values. This experience will enable them to contribute more effectively to Pakistan’s socio-economic development and increase their chances of participating in future U.S.

exchange programs or academic opportunities.The English Access Scholarship Program is part of the U.S. government’s commitment to supporting education in Pakistan and empowering young people to succeed in an interconnected world.
