Unitree robotics profitable since 2020, eyes expansion amid high demand

Unitree Robotics, China’s leading manufacturer of robotic dogs, has maintained steady profitability since 2020 and has no immediate plans for additional fundraising, according to a local media report citing an early investor in the Hangzhou-based firm.
The quadruped robots had not only generated substantial revenue, but also advanced the company’s engineering and production capabilities, laying a foundation for humanoid robot development, he said.
Regarding AI development, Huang described Unitree as more reserved.
“We closely follow AI industry developments but remain conservative,” he said. “We won’t overspend. Providing robust robot hardware is currently our core strength.”
The company has been experiencing supply shortages due to surging demand, straining its manufacturing facility located near its headquarters in Hangzhou. “We’re actively expanding our production capacity in response to market feedback,” Huang said on Thursday.
