Unheard Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Album to Release in September – Startup Pakistan

A new album of previously unreleased recordings by the famous qawwali singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan is set to launch on September 20, more than 27 years after he passed away. Titled “Chain of Light,” these recordings were found in the archives of Peter Gabriel’s Real World Records.

The album features four traditional qawwali tracks, including one that has never been heard before by the public. These recordings were originally made in April 1990, capturing Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan during what many consider to be his best performances.

Fans of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan can look forward to this special release, which will also be supported by a biographical movie titled “Ustad,” scheduled to be released in 2025 by Islamabad’s Saiyna Bashir Studios. The British Council is backing the album, which will be available for pre-order in various formats, allowing fans to enjoy these timeless recordings in different ways.
