Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin to Deliver Sermons in Karachi

Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, the head of the Dawoodi Bohra community, has chosen Karachi to host the annual Ashara Mubaraka this year. These 10-day Muharram congregations are significant for the community as they commemorate the sacrifices of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), his grandson Imam Husain (RA), and their companions, who stood for justice, truth, and humanity.

The decision follows an official invitation from both the Pakistani government and the Dawoodi Bohra community in Pakistan. They requested Saifuddin to lead the Ashara Mubaraka sermons in Karachi, underscoring the city’s importance to the community.

Ashara Mubaraka is a deeply revered period, drawing Dawoodi Bohras from around the world. Shabbir Harianawala, a key coordinator from Karachi’s Dawoodi Bohra community, shared that they expect over 80,000 attendees. This number includes community members from both Pakistan and abroad.

Efforts are underway to ensure a smooth and hospitable experience for all participants. The community is collaborating with government officials and local organizations to provide the best possible arrangements. This includes working with local residents to foster a welcoming atmosphere. The goal is to make every guest feel at home during their stay in Karachi.

The last time Syedna Mufaddal led the Muharram congregations in Karachi was in 2017. The return of these significant gatherings to Karachi is a momentous event for the city and the community, highlighting the enduring connection between them. As preparations continue, Karachi is set to host a profound and meaningful Ashara Mubaraka once again.
