Rs 50 Billion Subsidy Announced for Households Using Less than 200 Units – Startup Pakistan
Federal Minister for Petroleum Musadik Malik has announced a significant subsidy of Rs 50 billion for households that consume under 200 units of electricity, which will benefit 86% of homes in Pakistan. He mentioned that the prime minister has decided to maintain last year’s power tariff for these households, providing relief to a large portion of the population.
Malik also highlighted other key financial initiatives, including a substantial allocation of Rs 600 billion to the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), which aims to support the most vulnerable segments of society. In addition, he detailed recent development projects amounting to Rs 1,200 billion, indicating a strong commitment to national growth and infrastructure improvement.
He noted several positive economic trends, such as a 6.3% growth in the agriculture sector and a significant reduction in inflation from 38% to 12%. Malik praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s efforts in focusing on job creation, fostering a business-friendly environment, and reducing poverty. These measures are part of a broader strategy to stabilize the economy, improve living standards, and ensure sustainable development for the country.
