Rain of Rewards! Here’s the Full List of Prizes Announced for Pakistan’s Olympic Gold Medalist Arshad Nadeem – Startup Pakistan

Pakistan’s star athlete Arshad Nadeem has been showered with praise and generous rewards after making history by winning the country’s first Olympic gold medal in 40 years. His incredible 92.97-meter javelin throw set a new Olympic record, earning him not just the gold medal, but also a wave of appreciation and prizes from both the government and private sector.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, representing the federal government, announced a reward of Rs150 million for Arshad, alongside an additional Rs10 million for his coach, Salman Iqbal Butt. The prime minister also promised to honor Arshad with a civil award in recognition of his outstanding Olympic performance.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif visited Arshad’s home in Mian Channu, where she personally presented him with a cheque for Rs100 million and handed over the keys to a Honda Civic car with the special number plate “PAK 92.97.” She also gifted Rs5 million to his coach. In addition, Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan announced a separate cash reward of Rs2 million for Arshad.

The Sindh government, represented by Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab, announced a Rs50 million reward for Arshad. Mayor Wahab also shared that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) would establish an “Arshad Nadeem Athletics Academy” in the city. Additionally, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori announced a Rs1 million reward for Arshad.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, in a personal capacity, offered a Rs5 million reward to Arshad Nadeem.

On the international stage, World Athletics, the global governing body for athletics, announced that all gold medalists at the Paris Olympics, including Arshad, would receive a $50,000 reward.

United Bank Limited (UBL), a commercial bank in Pakistan, recognized Arshad’s incredible achievement by announcing a Rs5 million reward. Toyota Pakistan also honored him by gifting him a Corolla Cross Hybrid Electric car, noting their sponsorship of the athlete since October 2023.

Pakistani singer Ali Zafar, through his Ali Zafar Foundation, announced a Rs1 million reward for Arshad, expressing hope that with proper support, Pakistan’s athletes could win many more gold medals. Cricketer Ahmad Shahzad also announced a Rs1 million prize for Arshad.

JDC Foundation Pakistan announced a reward of Rs92,97,000, representing Arshad’s record-breaking throw of 92.97 meters, along with an additional Rs2.5 million reward on behalf of the people of Karachi. A businessman, Ali Sheikhani, covered both amounts, and the foundation also gifted Arshad a Suzuki Alto car.

Finally, Salman Iqbal, Chairman of ARY Laguna, announced that Arshad Nadeem would be gifted an apartment at ARY Laguna in recognition of his historic achievement.

Arshad Nadeem’s Olympic victory has clearly touched the hearts of many across the country, with rewards continuing to pour in, reflecting the nation’s immense pride and gratitude for his remarkable achievement.
