Pakistan Railways Collects Over Rs. 20 Million From Ticketless Passengers – Startup Pakistan

The Railways Multan Division collected over Rs 20 million in fares and fines from passengers traveling without tickets in September. This campaign was led by Divisional Superintendent Yousuf Lagahri and Divisional Commercial Officer Ramla Shahid, with a focus on enforcing strict rules against fare evasion.

During the inspections, a total of 18,209 passengers were found traveling without tickets. All the money collected from these fines was deposited into the railway treasury. The Divisional Commercial Officer highlighted that this was the first major effort of its kind in the history of the Multan Division, aimed at tackling the issue of ticketless travel.

She stressed that traveling without a ticket is a serious offense and urged all passengers to follow ticketing rules. According to the railway regulations, any passenger caught traveling without a ticket will be charged the fare from their original boarding point. This move is intended to discourage fare evasion and ensure that passengers follow the proper procedures.

The large-scale operation shows the division’s commitment to enforcing rules and improving revenue by reducing fare evasion. Railways Multan Division is determined to maintain strict ticket checks to ensure all passengers travel legally.
