Pakistan Railways has announced a 10% reduction in fares for all air-conditioned classes on express and mail trains, as well as for economy class on passenger trains. This fare reduction will take effect from September 23, providing passengers with more affordable travel options.

In addition to this, Pakistan Railways is moving forward with its plans to operate 10 passenger trains through a public-private partnership (PPP). Under this plan, several trains will be handed over to private operators. The first phase of the initiative is set to begin soon, with applications from interested parties being invited. On the same day, technical bids will be opened to evaluate the submissions.

Some of the key trains that will be privatized as part of this initiative include the Karachi Express, Awam Express, Hazara Express, Bahauddin Zakariya Express, Mehr Express, Sukkur Express, Chenab Express, Mehran Express, Mohenjodaro Passenger Train, and Rawalpindi Passenger Train. These trains will now be operated in collaboration with private operators under the public-private partnership model.

The goal of this partnership is to enhance the quality of service and overall efficiency of train operations in the country, making train travel more convenient and comfortable for passengers.
