Pakistan Oilfields Discovers Oil and Gas Reserves at Razgir-1 Well in Kohat – Startup Pakistan
Pakistan Oilfields Limited (POL) has announced a major discovery of oil and gas reserves at the Razgir-1 exploratory well in Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The well was drilled to a depth of 3,950 meters and has successfully tested 20 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) of gas and 250 barrels of condensate per day. This discovery was confirmed through a drill stem test (DST), indicating significant potential for commercial production, although the actual output may differ based on further evaluations.
This discovery is expected to enhance Pakistan’s indigenous hydrocarbon supply and boost the country’s reserves. It represents a promising development for the nation’s energy sector, offering the potential to reduce reliance on imported fuels.
The project is a collaborative effort by the TAL Joint Venture, which includes several key partners: Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), MOL Pakistan, Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL), Pakistan Oilfields Limited (POL), and Government Holdings Private Limited (GHPL).
This partnership reflects a significant investment in exploring and developing Pakistan’s natural resources. The announcement has been met with optimism as it marks a positive step towards energy security and sustainability for the country.
