OGDCL and China’s CCDC Sign MoU for Shale and Tight Gas Development in Pakistan – Startup Pakistan
Pakistan’s Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) and China’s China National Corporation for Exploration and Development of Oil and Gas (CCDC) have signed an important agreement to develop Pakistan’s shale and tight gas reserves. This partnership aims to tap into the country’s natural energy resources to meet the increasing demand for energy.
The agreement was signed in the presence of Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Petroleum, who expressed hope that this collaboration would strengthen ties between Pakistan and China in the energy sector. The deal combines OGDCL’s strong knowledge of oil and gas exploration with CCDC’s advanced drilling and upstream oil field services.
By working together, both companies hope to explore Pakistan’s largely untapped energy reserves, paving the way for greater energy independence and reducing reliance on imported fuel.
This project is seen as a major step towards solving Pakistan’s energy shortages, with the long-term goal of making the country more self-reliant in its energy needs. The partnership also highlights the growing cooperation between Pakistan and China in various sectors.
The development of shale and tight gas is complex, but if successful, it could significantly increase Pakistan’s domestic energy production, creating more jobs and boosting the economy. This agreement is part of a larger effort by Pakistan to focus on its own natural resources and reduce the pressure from rising energy imports.
