National Assembly Increase Travel Allowances of Lawmakers by 150% – Startup Pakistan
The National Assembly has passed a PPP amendment to boost salaries and allowances for its members. Proposed by Abdul Qadir Patel, the amendment introduces increased benefits through the Finance Bill, despite facing opposition.
One significant change is the raise in travel allowances for assembly members, which jumps from Rs. 10 per kilometer to Rs. 25 per kilometer. Additionally, unused annual airline tickets will now carry over to the following year, and the annual allocation of travel vouchers has been raised from 25 to 30.
Another notable adjustment is the shift of responsibility for setting salaries and allowances from the federal government to the finance committee of each house. These changes mark a significant update in the benefits and administrative procedures for National Assembly members.
