Monsoon Rains Likely to Start in Karachi from Tomorrow – Startup Pakistan

Karachi is expected to see monsoon rains from July 8 to 10, providing some relief after experiencing extreme heat with temperatures feeling above 50°C. Weather expert Owais Haider and the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) have forecast that drizzling may begin by this evening or tonight. During the day, temperatures are predicted to rise between 37°C and 39°C.

In preparation for the upcoming rains, the Cantonment Board Clifton (CBC) has declared a rain emergency. They have assigned 1,288 staff members to handle the situation, with special attention to rainwater drainage in low-lying areas. These areas are particularly vulnerable to flooding during heavy rains, so having a large team on standby is crucial.

The CBC has also arranged for heavy machinery and additional teams to be stationed at critical points across the city. This equipment and manpower will help manage the impact of the rain, ensuring that any flooding or waterlogging is addressed promptly. Their goal is to minimize disruptions and keep the city functioning smoothly despite the adverse weather conditions.

The low-lying areas in DHA Phases I-VIII, Clifton Blocks 8 and 9, and the market area have been identified as high-risk zones. These locations will receive special attention from the emergency teams to ensure that any potential flooding is controlled and managed effectively.
