Minnie Driver reflects on past relationships, calls potential marriage to Josh Brolin ‘biggest mistake’

Minnie Driver has reflected on her past relationships, including her engagement to Josh Brolin, in a recent interview with The Sunday Times. The actress, 54, revealed how discovering her father’s infidelities at a young age influenced her romantic choices, stating, “It made me want to be married so much and then choose men who were so not the right men to be married to.” Regarding her engagement to Brolin in 2001, Driver expressed relief that they never married, calling it potentially “the biggest mistake” of her life if they had gone through with it.

Driver and Brolin, who met on the set of “Slow Burn” in 2000, were engaged for five and a half months before canceling their wedding plans in October 2001. The decision was described as mutual and amicable by Driver’s representative at the time, as reported by ABC News. Brolin went on to marry Kathryn Boyd Brolin in 2016, while Driver has since found happiness with writer and filmmaker Addison O’Dea, whom she described as fulfilling her childhood idea of a husband despite their decision not to marry.

Previously linked to Matt Damon, her co-star in “Good Will Hunting,” Driver shared insights earlier this year on what she would advise her younger self after their split in 1998. She expressed optimism and resilience, stating on The Jennifer Hudson Show, “You’re going to love again, it’ll be fine.”
