Metro Bus Service Suspended for Four-Days as Islamabad Hosts Sco Summit – Startup Pakistan
The Metro Bus Service in Islamabad and Rawalpindi will be suspended for four days due to the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit, lasting until October 17.
This decision has prompted many residents to visit shopping centers to stock up on essential supplies, anticipating disruptions during the suspension. In addition to the Metro Bus shutdown, all public transport, including private vehicles, will be halted. Schools will also be closed for three days, as a public holiday has been announced.
Authorities have implemented Section 144, which bans political gatherings and other public activities during this period to ensure safety and order. The summit, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, will bring together high-ranking officials from several nations to discuss important issues, including economic and cultural cooperation.
The government’s steps are meant to manage security and reduce traffic congestion in the city while the summit is ongoing. Residents are advised to stay informed and make necessary arrangements in advance to cope with these temporary changes. The event marks a significant occasion as Pakistan hosts international leaders to strengthen regional ties and work towards collective growth.
