Likely Dates Revealed – Startup Pakistan

Ashura, a significant day of remembrance that takes place each year on the 10th of Muharram, is observed with great solemnity in Pakistan. This day honors Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) and the other martyrs of Karbala.

Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), along with his family and loyal companions, demonstrated immense resilience and courage while fighting to uphold the principles of Islam in the face of severe opposition and cruelty.

To mark Ashura, mourning processions will be held in cities and towns across Pakistan. These processions are conducted amid tight security to ensure the safety of all participants. The federal government traditionally declares public holidays on the 9th and 10th of Muharram to allow people to observe the occasion.

This year, Muharram 9 and 10 are expected to fall on Tuesday, July 16, and Wednesday, July 17. The Islamic calendar is lunar-based, and the holy month of Muharram is anticipated to begin on July 8 in Pakistan. If this date is confirmed, the Day of Ashura, or Youm-e-Ashur, will be observed on July 17.

The beginning of Muharram also signifies the start of the new Islamic year. The solemn observances of Ashura are a time for reflection and remembrance, paying tribute to the sacrifices made by Hazrat Imam Hussain (R.A) and his companions in their quest for justice and righteousness.
