Life-saving Early Warning Meteorological System Operational at Gwadar Port – Startup Pakistan

An early warning meteorological system was operationalized at Gwadar Port to help analyse and identify potential weather- and climate-related risks and hazards in this port city.

The system, including disaster risk knowledge, detection, monitoring, analysis, and forecasting, warning dissemination and communication, and preparedness and response capabilities, aims at protecting people’s lives, livelihoods and assets.

The system comes with the help of China Meteorological Administration. In April, the Administration handed over equipment to Pakistan, which included a mobile vertical observation system, a Beidou Navigation sounding station and three automatic weather stations (AWS) including two backups and a large screen.
