National javelin champion Yasir Sultan has expressed his deep frustration with the government over unfulfilled promises. Despite his remarkable achievement of winning a bronze medal at the Asian Athletics Championship in June 2023, for which a Rs5 million reward was announced, Sultan has not yet received the promised funds.
Speaking from Lahore, Sultan shared his disappointment, explaining that despite repeated efforts to follow up on the matter, he has received no response from government officials. He highlighted the ongoing challenges faced by athletes in Pakistan, noting the lack of support and opportunities for competition within the country.Sultan, who has even received offers from other countries, emphasized the importance of government and sports authorities honoring their commitments to athletes.
He urged them to provide the necessary support to help athletes like himself continue to represent Pakistan on the international stage. Sultan’s situation underscores the broader issues faced by many athletes in Pakistan, who often struggle with inadequate support despite their achievements.
