Haider Ali Pakistan’s Paralympic Medalist, Receives Quiet Welcome at Islamabad Airport – Startup Pakistan

After winning a bronze medal at the Paris Paralympics, Haider Ali, Pakistan’s most successful para-athlete, has returned home.

Despite his incredible achievement, the welcome at Islamabad Airport was modest, with only officials from the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) and members of the National Paralympic Committee there to greet him.

Ali, who arrived on Tuesday after his medal win last Thursday, was met with a banner featuring images of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Youth Programme Chairman Rana Mashhood. However, the presence of supporters was notably small, considering his success.

This recent bronze marks Haider Ali’s fourth Paralympic medal, solidifying his status as a top para-athlete in Pakistan. During the competition, he made his best throw of 52.28 meters on his first attempt, but unfortunately, he wasn’t able to improve on that distance in the following four attempts.

His return might not have been met with the celebration it deserved, but his accomplishments continue to inspire athletes across the country.
