Provincial governments have proposed a week-long suspension of social media to prevent the dissemination of hateful content, but a final decision has not yet been reached. The Interior Ministry will consult with provinces before making any decisions regarding internet services.
These measures are being implemented in anticipation of maintaining peace and security during the observance of Ashura.
