FBR Imposes Rs. 60,000 Monthly Advance Tax on Karachi Traders Under Tajir Dost Scheme – Startup Pakistan
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has introduced a new tax policy as part of the Tajir Dost Scheme, which requires shopkeepers in Karachi to pay an advance tax of Rs 60,000 every month.
This new policy has caused a lot of concern among local businesses, especially in the electronics market. Many traders are unhappy with the increased tax burden and have announced a nationwide strike on August 28 to protest the scheme.
Trade groups, including the All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajiran, have criticized the policy, calling it unfair. They are demanding that the government cancel the new scheme and address other related issues, such as increasing taxes on the export sector and revising income tax rates for both salaried individuals and business owners.
