“Digital Skills Training Could Boost Pakistan’s GDP by Rs. 2.8 Trillion”, Google – Startup Pakistan

Google recently organized the “Agay Barho” event in Islamabad, focusing on how digital skills training and education technologies can significantly boost Pakistan’s economy. According to the event, these advancements have the potential to contribute Rs 2.8 trillion to the economy by 2030.

The event highlighted the importance of empowering Pakistan’s digital economy, pointing out that the country’s IT services exports have seen impressive growth. Since 2014, these exports have increased by 2.7 times, and by 2023, they accounted for 35% of Pakistan’s service-sector exports.

A key takeaway from the event was a report suggesting that digital technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), could further elevate Pakistan’s digital exports. By 2030, these exports could increase by an additional $6.6 billion every year, provided that the country adopts policies that support the growth of the digital sector.

This projected growth will largely come from businesses making use of digital innovations to tap into export opportunities and gain better access to overseas markets. Google’s event emphasized that investing in digital skills and technologies can help Pakistan’s economy flourish, particularly in the global IT services market.

By fostering a digital-friendly environment and developing policies that encourage technological advancement, Pakistan can unlock immense economic potential in the coming years.
