New Kiswa (Ghilaf) Installed at Holy Kaaba – Startup Pakistan

The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has installed a new Kiswa on the Kaaba. This task was carried out by a skilled team of 159 craftsmen from the King Abdulaziz Complex at Masjid al-Haram.

The new Kiswa is quite impressive, weighing 1,350 kg and standing 14 meters tall. It is made up of four large panels and a curtain for the door. The process of installing the new Kiswa involved carefully removing the old one and then replacing each side with the new panels, ensuring that everything was done methodically and precisely.

The materials used for the new Kiswa are of high quality. It uses 1,000 kg of black-dyed silk, which gives it its distinctive appearance. Additionally, 120 kg of gold threads and 100 kg of silver threads are used in its design. These threads are intricately woven into the fabric, adding to the beauty and significance of the Kiswa.

The belt of the Kiswa is also noteworthy. It consists of 16 pieces, with seven additional pieces below the belt. This detailed work reflects the craftsmanship and dedication of the team involved in its creation and installation.

The replacement of the Kiswa is a significant event, symbolizing respect and reverence for the Kaaba. It is a tradition that has been carried out for centuries, each time with great care and precision. The new Kiswa will now adorn the Kaaba, maintaining its sacred and revered status in the hearts of millions of Muslims around the world.
