35 Pakistanis Among Hundreds of Hajj Pilgrims Die During Hajj 2024 – Startup Pakistan

During Hajj 2024, more than 900 pilgrims tragically lost their lives, with at least 35 of them being Pakistanis, mainly due to severe heat conditions. The Ministry of Religious Affairs in Pakistan cautioned the public to verify information shared on social media regarding the incident.

International reports and statements from diplomats highlighted the scale of the casualties, which included 600 Egyptians, 144 Indonesians, 68 Indians, 60 Jordanians, 35 Tunisians, 11 Iranians, and a number of Senegalese pilgrims.

While Saudi Arabia has not disclosed the exact number of fatalities, they reported more than 2,700 cases of pilgrims suffering from heat exhaustion during the pilgrimage.

This unfortunate event has drawn widespread attention globally, underscoring the challenges faced by pilgrims during Hajj, particularly in extreme weather conditions. Authorities continue to monitor and manage the situation to ensure the safety and well-being of all pilgrims participating in the annual pilgrimage.
