Pakistan Spends Whopping Rs. 535 Billion on Mobile Phone Imports in 1 Year – Startup Pakistan

In the fiscal year 2023-24, Pakistan saw a huge increase in mobile phone imports, which reached $1.898 billion. This represents a 233% rise compared to the previous year, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

When measured in Pakistani rupees, the total imports amounted to Rs535.690 billion, showing a massive 291.45% increase from the previous year. The month of June 2024 alone saw mobile phone imports worth $278.574 million. This was a 76.77% increase from May 2024 and an incredible 419.90% rise from June 2023.

The overall telecom imports for the fiscal year also rose significantly, reaching $2.366 billion. This marks a 147.36% annual increase. Specifically, in June 2024, telecom imports totaled $320.094 million, which is a 232% increase from June 2023.

These numbers indicate a sharp rise in the demand for mobile phones and telecom equipment in Pakistan, reflecting the growing reliance on technology and communication devices in the country.
