120 Pakistanis Receive US Fulbright Scholarships – Startup Pakistan

On Thursday, US Ambassador Donald A. Blome congratulated 120 Pakistani students and scholars for receiving prestigious Fulbright scholarships to study for Master’s and PhD programs in the United States.

These scholarships are supported by the US government and allow students to attend top universities, conduct important research, share their knowledge, and build international connections.

To help the students prepare for their studies and adapt to American culture, the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP) organized a two-day pre-departure orientation. During the event, Ambassador Blome praised the students for their hard work and success. “You have made it through an incredibly competitive application process, and you should be proud of your achievement,” he said.

This year’s group of scholarship recipients will be studying at 66 universities across the United States. Their fields of study include health, education, computer sciences, environmental studies, and social sciences. The group consists of 102 Master’s students, 13 PhD students, and five Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant fellows. Notably, 55 percent of the recipients are women, reflecting the program’s dedication to gender equality.

The Fulbright Program in Pakistan is managed by USEFP, a binational commission that was established in 1950 by the US and Pakistani governments. Over the years, more than 2,896 Pakistanis have received Fulbright awards, playing a significant role in addressing global challenges.

The Fulbright Program has had a lasting impact on the lives of many students and scholars, providing them with opportunities to advance their education and careers while fostering mutual understanding between the United States and Pakistan. The current group of students is expected to continue this tradition, contributing to solutions for shared international concerns and building bridges between cultures.
